New Fashions...
May. 14th, 2005 | 09:39 am
Okay, so I know I haven't been updating like a good little fashionista should, but I have been so busy with life outside of fashion (and believe me, I was shocked to learn that there WAS something outside of my new vintage turquoise beaded necklace!) Alas, I am back, and I have purchased. It was glorious. I really went quite overboard, and the month is only half done. To redeem myself, I've decided to take some pictures of my new purchases to make up for the lack of posting. Oh and PS - the colors didn't turn out as bright as I would have liked, so picture everything really vibrant ;)
So, I went a little earring crazy this month... the first set of hearts I got at Claire's "15 for $5" sale when I was out of town. The second longer pair I got at Rue 21 for like, 5 bucks. I really love them - they're so boho! The third pair I picked up on a whim.. Ness calls them my "fish scale" earrings but they go with everything! (Also at Claries)and the white feathered ones, I picked up at Torrid for $10. (I thought they were fun and different). In the second picture, I picked up the beaded hoop earrings at Rue for $.50! I couldn't believe it! I love them, and they also go with just about everything. I bought these next two on a whim, and I don't really wear them much (as of yet).. blue butterflies, and blue stars. Im sure I'll find somewhere to wear them to. Maybe Ange's Fall '05 collection debut show?
Ahh, the headbands.. picked those up at Claire's as well... about 5 bucks each. I wear a lot of blue and green, and I wanted something to wear in place of earrings.
These were such a great find! I was digging around at the thrift store as I do frequently, and these gorgeous vintage wooden bangles totally jumped out at me. I knew they would match by Ron Herman inspired green tube perfectly. (It's a really vibrant kelly green) - got all three for $2.07!
This necklace is one of those necklaces that you stop dead in your tracks to drool over it. The turquoise shell is really bright.. it's so gorgeous. Found it at Icing.
Another thrift store find.. cost me $5, and goes really well with a lot of recent purchases.
Oooooohhh... I picked these up on Wednesday, and I haven't even worn them yet. Kenneth Cole black flats with silver sequin embellishments. I wore my old black flats down to the nail or the sole, so I needed a new pair to wear with my new pants. $30, TJ Maxx.
Okay, these look HORRIBLE on the model.. I mean, really bad. I picked these up at Torrid, and they look A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. on me!! White pinstripe pants, low rise. I LOOOOVVEEE them!! Im going to wear them on a cool night out, but I have a feeling these will be my "going out" pants for the summer.. especially with my black cami (or a white one) with a dark tan, and some cool bright accessories.
Lastly (that I have pictures of) I picked this up at Rue, for $20. It's really pretty and flowy, very hippie inspired. I don't normally do hippie, but I couldn't pass up the sequins, and different crinkled panels. It's just so FABULOUS!!!
Other purchases I've made; a satin turquoise cami with beading and lace trim, and a yellow, orange and pink minidress to wear over jeans with ruffles. SOO CUTE! I wore it out shopping with Ness the other day.
Goooddd, I LOVE shopping! <3

Shopping withdrawl setting in...
Apr. 26th, 2005 | 01:58 pm
... there's this gorgeous pair of denim gauchos hanging around online.
In my size.
I love them.
I crave them.
I dream about them with round toe pumps and a halter top.
Oh, and good lord, the accessories.
Only a few more days and I'll be able to get them. Wait for me, precious little gauchos. Mama's coming.

April Shopping
Apr. 16th, 2005 | 09:43 am
Naturally, it isn't going as planned. My accessories shopping has been right on budget, but I did splurge for a Ron Herman inspired tube/tunic. It's GOOOORRGGEEOUUUSSSS.. it was $30, but I couldn't resist. It was too fabulous. And I did cheat a bit at Old Navy, where I got 2 pairs of flip flops and a new beach bag for our Lake Havasu trip.
Okay, as far as the accessories went, I did pretty good. We're the 16th of the month, and I've spent $30 on accessories. I hit up the 15 for $5 at Claires last Monday, here's what I bought:
- 2 stone pendant necklaces
- 2 paires of earrings (1 heart set in pink, 1 red crystal srop set)
- 2 sets of gold bangles
- 2 rings.. one pink plastic thing, one gold band with stars
- 1 2teir boho inspired necklace
- 3 hair clips
- 3 more items I can't remember.. (eek!)
So, then I decided to head back to the mall to pick up some headbands.. I fell in love w/these while I was broke. So I went to Claire's (again - I swear sometimes they could stay in business thanks to me and me alone)
- 2 headbands ; one blue/green/white sparkley stripes, one blue green fabric
- 3 paires of earrings.. a set of blue cluster stars, a set of blue/green butterflies and a set of these fish scaly things.. I don't know what possessed me to buy them, but I think they're fun :)
Anyhow, that's about it so far.. Im sure there will be more by the end of the month! I'll post pics soon.

April's Pact
Apr. 5th, 2005 | 12:47 pm
You know, I've tried these self imposed shopping bans in the past. And everytime, I've failed. However, I am going to attempt a form of one for the month of April. See, and I've found the flaw in past plans. I am not one who can cut off anything that I love. So, taking this into consideration, I've decided to give myself a VERY modest budget, and limit myself to items in my wardrobe that need to be added. I am mainly lacking in accessories that are inexpensive and versatile.
Im good on jeans, capris and skirts. I just recieved a shipment of shirts, so Im good on the halter/tee/sleeveless front as well. I've more than enough purses.
Clothing items I'd like to add are: espadrille sandals (found some CUTE ones at Torrid), wide leg dress pants (again, kickass ones at Torrid), and a circle skirt (which seems next to impossible at this point - which is just as well, talk about a trendy item!)
So the only thing that I'm allowing myself to purchase is accessories (unless one of the above becomes available or absolutely NEEDED - and nothing more). I've found Im lacking in costume jewelry - you know, the kind you find at Forever 21. Im in need of headbands (which are STELLAR at Claire's by the way), cuff style bracelets and earrings.
My budget for the month : $50
Im going to be blogging my purchases, (mainly so I can be accountable for my spending), and taking some pics with the webcam.
And unfortunatly, Nessa was with me when I came up with this idea, and so by default she's going to be dragged into this lack of shopping hell with me. We have slightly different rules for her end of the deal, which she'll blog about at SunsetBlaze. But we made a pact to look out for each other when it comes to this.
Lord, give us strength. The amount of adorable summer dresses will be our temptation, but our sacrifice this month will give us the ultimate gift : a MAJOR spree in May.

Thinking it Over
Mar. 30th, 2005 | 10:17 pm
Nessa and I decided to ease our stresses in a bit of retail therapy. She was bummed Ry is going to be a day late in getting back in town, and Im stressed over this job I want... and what it could mean.
So, we did what every other self respecting woman would do in this situation.
We purchased.
She bought a really cute ruffled skirt in an aquatic blue, and I purchased a pair of black flip flops, turquoise flip flops , a blue straw breifcase style bag, and a gorgeous ruffle halter in blue. Its sooo fabulous. As soon as my computer upstairs works, I'll post some pictures.
Sunday, my beloved Old Navy black flip flops died, so I needed to head over to the store and get some. Oh, and as per the title of this entry, I have thought over the popped collar look. It can work on some people - but certainly not on 2 mindless teenagers who decide to dress in matching outfits.
I hope the bag helps in getting The Job. Going to drink some water and chill.

Must Buys
Mar. 30th, 2005 | 11:41 am
April's paycheck officially marks the beginning of saving for my sister's trip to see me in August. God willing, I will try and put $200 aside each month to be able to party(shop) like a rockstar when she gets here. That being said, Im going to need to watch the spending for the next little while. Here's what's on my "must buy" list:
Wedges - How I still dont have a pair I love I can't figure out.
Flip Flops - I need more Old Navy flip flops... they're cheap and really hold up well, not to mention they go with everything
Long Jeans - to wear with heels (have some coming in via OldNavy.com)
Polo Shirt - all of mine are too big (SWEET!)
Shortsleeved/Sleeveless Tunic - I love tunics, need more.
I have everything ready to go in an OldNavy order, which is totalling $55, minus the jeans. Im waitting to see how the jeans fit before I start returning things. Should be here tomorrow. YAY! <3
No new outfits to post - I've been going straight from jammies to gym wear. I did go out to dinner last night.. and wore:
Destroyed Jeans
Mint Green tunic layered over a sky blue tank
Lush black biker bag
Bamboo flip flops
Key necklace, glass pendant necklace
Anyone else have some new outfits?

The Fashion Rant of the Day.
Mar. 29th, 2005 | 03:31 pm
At Easter on Sunday, I saw the most ridiculous thing - and from someone fashion obsessed, no less! My brother in law, Daniel was dressed identical to his girlfriend (whom I don't think anyone likes)! it was disgusting.
Matching Hollister polo shirts (popped collars - EWW!), matching Hollister khaki shorts, and matching Hollister flip flops.
And then they made the biggest mistake of all...
"Crys, do you like my outfit?"
HAHAHAH. YES! They were ASKING for it.
My best quote of the day was the following; "Say NO to couples dressing!"
They looked absolutely ridiculous. Husband has a photo of it - I can't wait to post it.
I think couples dressing warrants a major "faux pas" article. As if the overwhelming amount of Hollister (mass marketed lemming crap) wasn't enough, they had to wearing matching outfits.
ICK.
And that concludes the fashion rant of the day.
Im off to the gym. KICK ASS!
Oh, and let me be Little Miss Homemaker for a second here - try this smoothie:
4-5 HUGE fresh strawberries
1 large peach
1-1.5 cups of lemonade (I squeezed 2 lemons, and added a 1/3 cup of sugar)
1 cup water/ice
blend.
Yum.
I added up the cals - it makes about 2 huge cups, and the total comes to right around 300 calories.
Im wired off this stuff <3 Enjoy!
